The Department of Social Welfare and Development is one of the Philippine government agencies that cater to the needs of marginalized Filipino people. One of its jobs is to make sure that all people in need will receive social welfare assistance and services. And because of this, they created a unique identifier allocated to every household in the Philippines called DSWD Household Number.
The Household Number enables the DSWD to reach the vulnerable people who need it with efficiency, accountability, and transparency. Each household will have an assigned number that will be under the National Household Targeting System for Poverty Reduction (NHTS-PR), also called Listahanan.
Benefits of the DSWD Household Number
The Household Number is set as a standardized number code for every household. This will help the government to implement and deliver its program and services and ensure that every Filipino in need will reach it. The DSWD ensures that this project has the following qualities:
- Targeted Assitance. The system will reach the most vulnerable Filipino families and avoid misallocation.
- Service Delivery. The system will provide an efficient way of delivering all government programs and services using these number codes.
- Accountability and Transparency. The system will track all the social welfare programs and track their movement to make sure that the program is being delivered to the right people.
- Monitoring and Evaluation. The system is also used to evaluate the effect of the social welfare programs. The data they will gather will be used to assess and improve every social welfare program.
Systematic Process of DSWD Household Number
The DSWD provided an organized process for a smoother and easier way of providing the Household Number.
Step 1: Registration
You don’t have to go anywhere to register and receive a Household Number. A trained enumerator from DSWD will visit your house to gather relevant information such as demographics, socio-economic status, and other related information.
When a DSWD employee visits your house and asks for any information, make sure that they are wearing the DSWD uniform and identification to avoid giving personal details to the wrong person.
Step 2: Data Collection and Verification
The data that the household provides will be used to profile, assess, and evaluate if the household is eligible for social welfare programs.
Step 3: Issuance of Household Number
After the assessment and evaluation of the household data, the DSWD will assign a number to a household which will be included in the Listahanan Database. The household number will be printed in a sticker that will be attached to the household property, mostly on the door or wall that will be visible to everyone. The household owner must not remove or tamper it.
Step 4: Social Welfare Program
The Household Number will be used in many social welfare programs of the government. All Filipino families who received the number code are eligible to acquire any help available in the DSWD.
Privacy Policy
With compliance with the Data Privacy Act of 2012, the DSWD ensures that all data is protected and secured and no personal information will be used for others’ gain.
